Weight Loss: Tips For Lazy People (Based On Personal Experience)

Weight Loss

There are thousands of websites, books, and magazines about weight loss, dieting, and fitness. Most of these tips and techniques, however, require loads of self control and free time. We will provide some tips based on a personal experience of losing weight and not losing your mind at the same time. We call them tips for lazy people. Of course these are tips for losing just a couple of kilos (I lost 5), we are not talking about dramatic weight loss of 10 kilos and more.
So, here we go.

1. Set no deadlines
Seriously, you have plenty of time ahead. If you have been a little bit overweight until now, this means the world won't stop turning around if it takes you a few more months to lose the unwanted kilos. You don't have to do it over a week. Stop worrying and feeling guilty about missing deadlines you have set. Relax and think about the result, not about the time it takes to achieve it.

2. Consult a Yoga teacher
Ask about the Ayurvedic Tridosha concept. Find out your bodily humour (dosha): are you a Vata, a Pitta, or a Kapkha? Depending on your dosha, you could get advice on how many times a day it is recommended for you to have meals, as well as which tastes should prevail in your nutrition. Even if you don't normally practise Yoga or Ayurveda, this system might be very helpful. It really works!

3. Stop thinking about it!
This is actually an extra reminder to Tip No 1. Stop thinking about losing weight, stop counting every single calorie you take, stop counting glasses of water you drink per day and stop checking your weight. Relax. Don't get on scales more often than once a week.

4. If you want to eat a pack of potato chips, eat it.
It's better than eating 1/4 pack of potato chips daily and constantly thinking about the rest of the pack. Eat it up and forget about potato chips for the next month.

5. Listen to yourself
Know your optimum weight and make sure you stop once you have reached it. If you have been listening to your body, it will be easy to maintain your optimum weight in future.

How To Protect Your Lips While Wearing Lipstick

Lipstick

To avoid dry, choppy lips and to protect them from even a slightest irritation, always wear a lip balm under your lipstick. Choose a transparent lip balm with hard texture - you can wear it even under lip gloss. Even if your lipstick or lip gloss contains moisturizer, nothing protects the lips better than a specially made balm.
Neutrogena Lip Balm
When you wipe off your lipstick, the lip balm prevents bits of colour from getting into those tiny wrinkles on your lips.
We highly recommend Neutrogena with SPF 15 sun screen. What we would not recommend is the lip care series by Nivea. Nivea has some good products but definitely not lip balm.

How To Dye Your Eyelashes Safely

How To Dye Your Eyelashes Safely

Have you ever forced yourself to get up half an hour earlier in the morning and "paint your eyes" before your man wakes up? Or refused to go to the swimming pool with your co-workers because you don't want them to see you without make-up?
You have?
Possible solutions, then?
Fake eyelashes are way too dramatic. We can try dyeing them instead. But PLEASE leave it to a professional. No home-made experiments because you don't want to lose your eyelashes even if they are fair by nature. And PLEASE consult your dermatologist first.
Most beauty salons offer this service. Some hairdressers offer it as well, but we would recommend going to a beauty salon because they specialize in sensitive things like eyelashes. Choose a trusted salon - eyelash tinting is one of the least expensive services so you won't be broke even if you choose a very expensive beauty shop.
It is usually recommended picking a dark brown shade to prevent unnatural look. However... I have fair hair and fair skin, and I've always opted for a black dye. This procedure doesn't give your eyelashes any extra volume like mascara does; so it looks natural enough in any case. If you normally use black mascara, you might want to try a black dye.
That's all you need to know about eyelash tinting actually. Everything else is done by the cosmetologist. The dye is applied for about 10 minutes, then wiped off. The skin around your eyes is protected by cosmetic pads. If you are very sensitive, you might ask the cosmetologist to use ultra thin cosmetic pads instead of those thicker cotton ones.
The colour would normally last for 2-4 weeks. It depends on how often you go to the swimming pool, stay in the sun, and other factors. But you can be sure that for two weeks you will never have to hide your eyes. And of course you can still use mascara whenever you want a more expressive look.

Merry Berry: Home-Made Blackcurrant Face Mask

Home-Made Blackcurrant Face Mask

Summer is a great time for home-made, natural facials. Because first, most of us have more free time in summer (we sleep less in summer, the day is longer, and some of us are even lucky enough to be on holiday!), and second, there're so many fruits and berries and vegetables around!
Blackcurrant is famous for its extraordinary content of Vitamin C as well as other antioxidants. 100g blackcurrants contains up to 300 per cent of Vitamin C daily value! Blackcurrant face mask is very easy to make and it is has a refreshing, firming, pore-tightening effect. Just mash some berries and put them through a fine sieve to get rid of the peel, then mix in a teaspoon of honey. We recommend using organic white honey, which has a very soft, buttery texture and causes no irritation even on sensitive skin.
Apply your home-made blackcurrant and honey mask evenly on your face (avoid sensitive areas around your eyes as usual) and leave it for 15 minutes. Then rinse it off with warm water.

Tanning Tips For Fair Skinned People

Tanning Tips For Fair Skinned People

Who said red-haired/blonde, pale-skinned people can get no tan at all?

I used to be allergic to the sun until I decided that it was unbearable to wear long sleeves in summer and hide from sun rays any longer. It took a couple of years for my skin to get used to direct sun rays, but now I can enjoy going to the beach and I don’t look like a goth :)

So if your skin is very pale and allergic to the sun, here are some actions you can take:

1) Use a sunbed. Use it very carefully. Very carefully. Start with very short tanning sessions, like 4-5 minutes, with no noticeable results (don’t expect your skin to go darker that soon). I started with a horizontal sunbed, as vertical ones always made the skin on my shoulders go red. Use sunscreens and a suitable body/face lotion afterwards. Go on with regular, but not too frequent tanning sessions and gradually increase them to 9-12 minutes. It can take three months or half a year, depends on how sensitive your skin is.

2) Go to a Southern country on vacation. Trying to get rid of sun allergy in countries like the Baltics, Finland, or Denmark does not work. It may seem that the sun is milder in these countries and therefore your skin will get used to the sun sooner. But no. I know quite a lot of people (including myself) who only got rid of sun allergy after a couple of holidays spent on Turkey’s resorts. Of course you shouldn’t go there in August, when the sun shines like crazy. End of September is fine. And do not try to compete with the dark-tanned people who can spend the whole day on the beach. Your time is 8-10 a.m. and 4-6 p.m. That’s when it is safe for you to stay on the beach.

3) Go on with occasional tanning sessions in a sunbed in winter. One time a month is enough for your skin to remember the touch of UV.

4) Finally, there are some cosmetic tricks you can use, like all those body/face lotions with tanning effect. Choose the ones made specially for fair skin, otherwise the tone will look unnatural and your skin will most probably look too yellow. In summertime, combine this kind of body lotions with natural tan, and you''ll look great!
